Job Description

This position is responsible for managing the overall compliance activities of the organization. The position will be responsible for liaising with the regulator, identifying, interpreting and disseminating circulars from the regulator, ensuring actionables are communicated to and complied with by departments and for ensuring timely regulatory reporting. The incumbent will also ensure regulatory compliance of all communication from the organization (advertisements, all forms of customer communication), IRDA filing of advertisements, front ending audits, answering compliance related queries from the regulator, compliance certification of departments, creating awareness on AML, monitoring suspicious transactions, .



  • Liaise with the regulator (IRDA) and other prominent bureaus, councils (IIB, FIU, GIC, CKYC, UIDAI) and maintain relations at a strategic level
  • Be updated on all compliance related changes/updates from the regulator and ensure 100% compliance across departments
  • Drive market research on practices as well as regulator orders & penalties to understand competitor practices towards compliance, get necessary approvals to adopt a new practice, and proactively make changes in case of deviations
  • Ensure timely and accurate regulatory reporting, responses to regulator queries, adhoc reporting
  • Build and implement robust processes and systems to drive voluntary compliance certification across departments
  • Front end all inspections & audits, provide information support for statutory audit, and lead and implement post audit actionables



  • Responsible for reviewing and ensuring advertorial content as well as customer communication scripts are in line with IRDA regulatory guidelines
  • Approve all advertisements & communications and ensure tracking and recording of ad details with reference numbers, ensure timely filing of approved ads with the regulator
  • Responsible for answering queries from the regulator on any ad content
  • Scout for new IRDA circulars issued by the regulator, understand and analyse them and communicate necessary implementations to internal departments as well as regional teams with minimum ambiguity, ensure complete and timely implementation of the same
  • Responsible for maintenance of Process Compliance Certifications by departments, get internal buy-in on the same and educate teams regarding critical points
  • Responsible for SOP documentation approvals of various departments
  • Drive the identification and evaluation of Anti Money Laundering cases and responsible to curb the same
  • Oversee day-to-day compliance inquiries from the regulator regarding regulatory compliance
  • Researching and responding to questions from staff regarding regulatory compliance, as needed


  • Responsible for overseeing and ensuring all timely submissions to the regulator as well as answering adhoc queries on behalf of the company
  • Direct to follow-up with respective teams to ensure timely reporting
  • Responsible for authenticity and accuracy of department-wise reports submitted to IRDA
  • Drive the coordination and presentation of requested matters during yearly inspection by the regulators, ensure adherence to and consistency of data formats and act as the face of the organization during this period
  • Liaise with departments to gather information about various activities to be able to present the same to regulators
  • Report the compliance and regulatory activities on a timely basis and suggest ways to enhance compliance internally

People Management

  • Mentor, provide operational leadership and technical guidance to the team, thereby developing a strong and competent team
  • Conduct effective performance appraisals for the team and identify training needs
  • Ensure succession planning for self and critical roles in the team


  • Graduate/Post Graduate preferably LLB/ ACS
  • 7-8 years relevant experience preferably in insurance sector
