This is an exciting opportunity to work for a global engineering firm with headquarters in London, and major regional centres in Dubai, Singapore and New Jersey.
The successful candidate can expect to be involved in advising on a range of legal documents including engineering contracts, EPC contracts, advisory mandates, purchase agreements, leases and licences and corporate documentation. The value and complexity of these documents can range from major international projects to smaller mandates local to India. The successful candidate will be expected to advise on risk and exposure on those contracts, and have the experience to work with opposing counsel to agree an acceptable way forward in order to secure mandates on acceptable terms and conditions. The ideal candidate will understand the importance of their role in helping to maintain the businesses’ pipeline of work. The successful candidate will also be expected to have the confidence and experience to work with and manage local counsel on more complex legal disputes.
Due to the nature and complexity of the role, the candidate will be expected to be able to not only advise the business, but assist with commercial decision making, including making recommendations on how business functions and procedures can be improved.
Essential Candidate Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree essential and Masters level qualification desirable – law / contracts / corporate & company administration (From premium institutes like National Law University, Symbiosis or ILS Pune
Must be a lawyer
Minimum of three years progressive responsibility with quantifiable results in construction and design engineering contract arbitration, within a premier legal firm in India
Demonstrated negotiation and problem-solving skills
Robust skills in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
Ability to meet project objectives within designated constraints
A broad understanding of corporate compliance requirements, including compliance with the Indian Companies Act
