Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Undertake paralegal work for corporate, commercial and finance practice
  • Draft, review, amend and proofread contracts, legal memos and opinions, and other documents
  • Analyse legal issues and conduct legal research using Westlaw, LawNet and other public and private databases
  • Prepare and maintain review and negotiation playbooks, templates and undertake other knowledge management tasks
  • Prepare business/client development and marketing material as needed
  • Other ad-hoc administrative duties and tasks as needed

Educational Qualifications:

  • Degree in Law (Indian or other common law system) from reputable law school
  • Successfully passed exams to be qualified to practiec law in India

Working Experience:

  • Min. 4-5 solid years of prior corporate and/or finance legal experience (i.e. litigation paralegal experience is insufficient) assisting UK Magic Circle, US white shoe or other top-tier international law firms

  • Exceptionally careful, detailed, meticulous and organised
  • Displays enthusiasm and initiative
  • Able to work with minimal supervision and quick to learn
  • Excellent English and communication skills (both written and spoken)
  • Competent research skills, with strong knowledge of and familiarity with legal research databases, including Westlaw
  • Proficient in MS Office, including Word, Excel and preferably Powerpoint (PPT not as essential but must be willing to pick up)
  • Comfortable with various technology platforms in general, including document management systems and other Cloud-based platforms
  • Mature, professional and possesses the highest standards of integrity
  • Understands the importance of firm and client confidentiality
