Google is looking to hire a Patent Portfolio Specialist Legal for their Gurgaon Office. As a Patent Portfolio Specialist, you will be at the core of the Global Patent Team’s strategy to develop and defend Google’s patent portfolio. You will work with a global team of patent professionals to provide a variety of technical analyses for intriguing patent issues. You will be required to manage patentability searches for Google’s exciting inventions in various technology fields. You’ll also conduct more complex technical analyses and advisory work, including strategic patent portfolio management for specific product areas.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
5 years of experience with patents working on prior art searches, invalidity searches, landscaping, claim charting, drafting office action responses for USPTO, and drafting patent applications for US/EP/India jurisdiction.
Experience working with cross-functional teams of engineers, patent counsels, and legal specialists across geographies.
Experience working with Video Coding (VVC) technology.
Experience with in-house patent portfolio management.
Knowledge of US Patent Law and Foreign Patent Law (India, Europe, China, PCT).
Knowledge of codec patent licenses.
Knowledge of software-related inventions and latest developments on prosecuting the same.
Perform technical analysis of a broad range of technical subjects to advise Google counsel and other stakeholders on technical issues related to legal matters.
Review and manage art searches for Google’s innovations to advise Google counsel on their disposition.
Review and steer patent applications and office action responses prepared by Outside Counsel.
Analyze third party matters to provide sound technical advice to Google Counsel.
Advise Google Counsel on strategic management of patent portfolio based on Google’s existing portfolio, product roadmap, technology landscape, and competitive landscape.
