This position will provide general legal and regulatory advice pertaining to Lowe’s business operations and activities in India and report to the Head of Legal at Lowe’s India.
The job holder will, among other things, be responsible for the following:
Legal counseling as to Indian regulatory requirements in all areas, including privacy, technology and employment law;
Reviewing, negotiating legal contracts and commercial agreements and ensure that contracts are in compliance with legal, regulatory and organizational policies;
Monitoring the contract process to assure compliance with Lowe’s contractual guidelines and satisfaction of internal clients/vendors;
Reviewing the work of other team members and providing assistance in reviews where required;
Setting up processes and systems for the team to perform more efficiently and to work in sync with other internal teams;
Setting up prioritization lists for the team in line with requirements from internal stakeholders;
Ability to create risk matrixes based on business and legal risk to aid with decision-making processes;
Providing compliance advice in the following areas: employee and vendor ethics, commercial contracts, data protection and privacy, and intellectual property rights;
Designing, implementing and maintaining policies and procedures for the organization and the team.
Handling functions independently with minimal reviews;
Liaising with US-based counterparts to ensure that holistic legal advice is provided;
Interacting with government officials on behalf of the company;
Managing and working with outside counsel;
Responding to queries from government regulators; and
Developing training programs for internal stakeholders on areas such as employment and contracting;
Providing training to both employees and vendors.
